(SALINA) – A Salina company is being honored with an award from the Department of Defense for supporting their employees who serve in the Utah National Guard overseas. Kim Robinson, president of Robinson Transport, said when his employees are called to serve, their jobs and benefits remain intact when they return. Robinson has covered the cost of insurance and benefits for seven of his employees serving in two different units who were deployed in the past few years in Iraq and Afghanistan. He said that it’s a small price to pay for their service to their country. Employees nominated Robinson to receive the 2008 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award to be given in September at a ceremony at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington. The award has been in effect since 1996.
