SEATTLE-Roy Halladay pitched a shutout and surrendered only four singles in the Toronto Blue Jays’ 2-0 win over the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field Monday. Meanwhile, Toronto had just enough offense to pull it out as Marco Scutaro had a fifth inning RBI single, while Rod Barajas added a run-scoring groundout in the sixth. The win improved the Blue Jays to 41-43 on the season, while the Mariners fell to 31-51 in having their three-game winning streak snapped. In other MLB action Monday, St. Louis pounded the New York Mets, 7-1, Kansas City edged Baltimore, 6-5 in 11 innings, Texas doubled up the New York Yankees, 2-1, Cincinnati outlasted Pittsburgh, 4-3, Florida handled Washington, 6-5 in 10 innings, Tampa Bay bested Boston, 5-4, Houston smoked the Los Angeles Dodgers, 4-1, Detroit stymied Minnesota, 5-4, the Chicago White Sox overpowered Cleveland, 9-7, San Diego shellacked Colorado, 15-8, Arizona gashed Milwaukee, 6-3, Oakland bludgeoned the Los Angeles Angels, 6-1, and the Chicago Cubs blasted San Francisco, 9-2.
