Moroni Feed Cutback Update

(Moroni) Moroni Feed Company Officials have elaborated on their plan to temporarily cut back on production. According to Moroni Feed President Dave Bailey, the company will discontinue operations at their hatchery after August 9th, and later suspend operations at their processing plant in Moroni in November after the Thanksgiving rush. Under the plan, the hatchery will restart production in November, and the processing plant will resume operation in March of 2009. The closure will require the layoff of many Moroni Feed Company employees during the down time. The hope is that many of them will be rehired after the closure. The reason for the cutback is the rising price of feed corn. Prices have risen by up to three times the ten year average over the last few months. Bailey says they hope to see the imbalance eliminated by the time the facility resumes production.
