(WASHINGTON D.C.) – Senators Bob Bennett and Orrin Hatch joined Senate Republicans today to debut the Gas Price Reduction Act of 2008. Bennett said the main part of the legislation is to repeal the moratorium on oil shale production, instituted by the Democrats. He said the four provisions of the act include expanding deep sea exploration, repealing the Democrat moratorium on oil shale, increasing research for plug-in vehicles and strengthening the U.S. futures markets. Sen. Orrin Hatch commented that the legislation will protect electronic vehicles. Both Senators are urging Congress to allow the development of what is potentially 800-billion to two-trillion barrels of recoverable oil in Utah, Colorado and Wyoming.
