(RICHFIELD) – The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life 2008 kicks off Friday night at 6pm at the Richfield High School football field. The overnight celebration will run until 6:00 Saturday morning where individuals and teams camp out, barbeque, dance and take turns walking around a track, relay style, to raise funds to fight cancer. Organizer, Sue Parsons of Richfield, says participants will be allowed to set up during the day on Friday. She said the survivors lap is scheduled to take place at the beginning of this year’s relay at 6pm. Julie Quarnburg of Aurora, said that about 20 bikers participated in the event last year and hopes more will ride this year. The American Cancer Society is also sponsoring relays in Gunnison, Beaver and Delta Friday night through Saturday morning at their respective high school football fields.
