Primary Election Results

(Manti) South Sanpete County residents voted in favor of bonding for new schools by a margin of nearly two thirds in yesterday’s primary. The final vote was 1,436 in favor of the bond and 498 against. In other races, Spencer Cox edged Dwight Inouye by thirty seven votes in a Republican runoff for county commission. Those numbers could change though as absentee and provisional ballots are counted. For South Sanpete School Board, Nancy Jensen had 214 votes, Kathy Frandsen had 172, and Sheila Bringhurst had 50. In the North Sanpete School Board race, Roy Ellefsen took 115 votes, Rich Brotherson had 87, and Dale Barker had 50. Sanpete Residents voted for Jason Chaffetz over Chris Cannon by 59 votes, and Richard Ellis over Mark Walker by nearly two hundred votes.
