ESCALANTE) – Rehabilitation work has begun on the first wildfire of the season. On Sunday, fire managers took over the Corn Creek Fire, 11 miles west of Escalante. The fire scorched nearly 2300 acres and was fully contained last Friday. Forest managers have begun the Burned Area Emergency Rehabilitation including specialists in engineering, vegetation, wildlife, hydrology, soil, cultural and recreation resources. These experts will help to stabilize and prevent further threats to life or property resulting from the effects of the fire. The Main Canyon road is now open but other forest roads will remain closed until management teams are out of the area.
