Twins Finish Off Sweep of D-Backs In Twin Cities

MINNEAPOLIS-Brian Buscher had two hits and two RBI as the Minnesota Twins completed a three-game weekend sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks, 5-3 Sunday in interleague play at the Metrodome. Despite this, the Diamondbacks took an early 3-0 lead after Chris Snyder’s two-run single and a wild pitch by Livan Hernandez. Minnesota came back primarily behind the excellence of Conor Jackson who netted three hits and scored a run for the Twins. Minnesota finished Arizona off with a sacrifice fly by Justin Mourneau which scored Alexi Casilla in the fifth. The win improved the Twins to 40-36 on the season, while the Diamondbacks fell to 39-37. In National League action Sunday, the New York Mets handled Colorado, 3-1, and in other interleague action, the New York Yankees gashed Cincinnati, 4-1, Atlanta blasted Seattle, 8-3, Boston overpowered St. Louis, 5-3 in 13 innings, Texas humbled Washington, 5-3, the Los Angeles Angels edged Philadelphia, 3-2, Toronto surged past Pittsburgh, 8-5, Houston stymied Tampa Bay, 3-2, Milwaukee torched Baltimore, 7-3, Kansas City outgunned San Francisco, 11-10, Oakland hammered Florida, 7-1, and the Chicago Cubs blew past the Chicago White Sox, 7-1.
