Mariners Sink Braves in the ATL

ATLANTA-Jose Lopez amassed four RBI along with three hits as the Seattle Mariners smacked the Atlanta Braves, 10-2 Friday at Turner Field in interleague play. With the firing of manager John McLaren fresh upon their minds, the Mariners came out with one of their best performances on the season thus far. Seattle posted 15 runs in the rout, although they were scoreless until the sixth inning. Nevertheless, after Adrian Beltre’s RBI double in the sixth, the Mariners proceeded to blow out the Braves and win their 26th game of the season. In National League play Friday, the New York Mets trounced Colorado 7-2, and in other interleague action, the Chicago Cubs edged the Chicago White Sox, 4-3, Cincinnati doubled up the New York Yankees, 4-2, the Los Angeles Angels blasted Philadelphia, 7-1, Pittsburgh blanked Toronto, 1-0 in 12 innings, Houston shocked Tampa Bay, 4-3, Washington handled Texas, 4-3 in 14 innings, Baltimore outlasted Milwaukee, 8-5, San Francisco stymied Kansas City, 9-4, Minnesota crushed Arizona, 7-2, St. Louis tripped up Boston, 5-4, San Diego bested Detroit, 6-2, Oakland snuck past Florida, 7-6 in 11 innings, and Cleveland defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers, 6-4 in 10 innings.
