CINCINNATI-Matt Kemp hit a key two-run double in the fifth inning and Eric Stults took a shutout into the sixth inning as the Los Angeles Dodgers overpowered the Cincinnati Reds, 7-4 Thursday in the sole National League game of the day at the Great American Ball Park. Although Los Angeles has had well-chronicled struggles in their first year under Joe Torre, they have obtained sufficient mastery of the Reds as they are 7-1 against Cincinnati this season. Additionally, Aaron Harang obtained a dubious distinction for the Reds as he became the National League’s second 10-game loser, along with Barry Zito of the San Francisco Giants. In interleague play Thursday, the New York Yankees doubled up San Diego, 2-1, Minnesota blowtorched Washington, 9-3, the Chicago White Sox outgunned Pittsburgh, 13-8, Milwaukee edged Toronto, 8-7, Texas handled Atlanta, 5-4, Kansas City pasted St. Louis, 4-1, Arizona humbled Oakland, 2-1, Baltimore stymied Houston, 7-5, Tampa Bay gashed the Chicago Cubs, 8-3, and Colorado waxed Cleveland, 6-3.
