John Lackey improved to 4-1 on the season while surrendering only six hits in more than seven innings of work as the Los Angeles Angels gashed the Mets 6-1 Tuesday at Angel Stadium of Anaheim in interleague play. Torii Hunter and Casey Kotchman combined for three RBI while Jeff Mathis added a sixth-inning solo shot for Los Angeles. With the win, the Angels improved to 43-29 on the season, while the Mets fell to 34-36 in defeat. In National League action Tuesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers pasted Cincinnati, 3-0, and in other interleague play, Baltimore edged Houston, 6-5, the New York Yankees blanked San Diego, 8-0, Boston humbled Philadelphia, 3-0, Tampa Bay snuck past the Chicago Cubs, 3-2, Milwaukee smoked Toronto, 7-0, Texas blew past Atlanta, 7-5, Minnesota doubled up Washington, 2-1, the Chicago White Sox decimated Pittsburgh, 16-5, Kansas City held off St. Louis, 2-1, Colorado torched Cleveland, 10-2, Oakland pounded Arizona, 15-1, Seattle stymied Florida, 5-4, and Detroit bludgeoned San Francisco, 5-1.
