Tigers Stonewall Anemic Dodgers

DETROIT-Armando Galarraga and Freddy Dolsi combined for a three-hitter as the Detroit Tigers blanked the Los Angeles Dodgers, 5-0 Friday at Comerica Park in interleague action. While opponents are hitting only a paltry .173 against Galarraga, the Dodgers have been pathetic offensively in their own right as in their last 21 games, they’ve been shut out four times and in eight other contests, they’ve managed only one run. Marcus Thames and Magglio Ordonez added home runs for the Tigers who improved to 30-37 with the win, while Los Angeles fell to 31-36. In National League play Friday, Philadelphia decimated St. Louis, 20-2, while in other interleague action, Baltimore overpowered Pittsburgh, 9-6, Cleveland bested San Diego, 9-5, Toronto edged the Chicago Cubs, 3-2, Cincinnati pasted Boston, 3-1, the New York Mets gashed Texas, 7-1, Tampa Bay waxed Florida, 7-3, Minnesota blasted Milwaukee, 10-2, the New York Yankees doubled up Houston, 2-1, the Chicago White Sox surged past Colorado, 5-4, Arizona blanked Kansas City, 1-0 in 10 innings, Atlanta tripped up the Los Angeles Angels, 5-2, Washington handled Seattle, 7-6, and Oakland stymied San Francisco, 5-1.
