SAN DIEGO-Edgar Gonzalez and Khalil Greene each hit solo home runs and Randy Wolf teamed up with two relievers to surrender only five hits as the San Diego Padres pasted the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-1 Wednesday at Petco Park. The win gave the Padres five in their last six games at a time when their pitching staff has been decimated with injuries. Thankfully for San Diego, Wolf has been on the top of his game lately as he won the third game in his last five starts. The Dodgers’ only offensive success came in the fourth inning when Andy LaRoche hit a solo shot for Los Angeles. The win improved the Padres to 29-38 on the season, while the Dodgers fell to 31-34. In other MLB action Wednesday, Seattle doubled up Toronto, 2-1, the Los Angeles Angels stymied Tampa Bay, 4-2, Boston handled Baltimore, 6-3, Minnesota surged past Cleveland, 8-5, Detroit smoked the Chicago White Sox, 5-1, Pittsburgh humbled Washington, 3-1, St. Louis decimated Cincinnati, 10-0, the New York Mets outlasted Arizona, 5-3 in 13 innings, Florida gashed Philadelphia, 6-2, the Chicago Cubs smoked Atlanta ,7-2, Milwaukee outgunned Houston, 10-6, Texas obliterated Kansas City, 11-5, Colorado blanked San Francisco, 1-0, and Oakland finished off the New York Yankees, 8-4.
