TORONTO-Miguel Cairo squeezed in the winning run in the 10th inning and Jason Frasor walked home the game-winning run as the Seattle Mariners edged the Toronto Blue Jays, 3-2 Monday at Rogers Centre. The Mariners, who were coming off a stint in which they had dropped six of their last seven games and 14 of 18 overall were a team in transition as they had fired hitting coach Jeff Pentland before the game, replacing him with Lee Elia. Despite all this, Seattle got off to a nice start as Jose Vidro hit a two-run shot in the first inning to give the M’s an early advantage. Nevertheless, the Jays worked their way back into it as Lyle Overbay had a 4th inning RBI double, while Vernon Well’s 7th inning single tied things at 2-2 apiece. However, the plucky Mariners, notwithstanding their three errors found a way to pull it out on the end. The loss brought the Blue Jays back to .500 as they have a mark of 33-33, while Seattle improved to 23-41 with the win.
