BOSTON-Despite the Seattle Mariners’ extensive struggles this season, there is one thing they can count on consistently: Felix Hernandez pitching well at Fenway Park. Hernandez pitched a shutout, only allowing six hits in six innings as the Mariners blanked the Boston Red Sox, 8-0 Friday. Seattle was able to put the game on ice with consistent RBI throughout the game, as Ichiro Suzuki, Richie Sexson, and Jose Vidro all batted in runs with singles. The win was only the Mariners’ 22nd of the season, but they have obtained mastery over the 38-26 Red Sox this season as they’ve taken three of four games thus far this season against a powerful Boston squad. In other MLB action Friday, Cleveland doubled up Detroit, 4-2, Kansas City humbled the New York Yankees, 2-1, Arizona gashed Pittsburgh, 3-1, Baltimore outlasted Toronto, 6-5, Cincinnati smoked Florida, 11-3, Philadelphia surged past Atlanta, 4-3 in 10 innings, San Francisco decimated Washington, 10-1, Tampa Bay shellacked Texas, 12-4, Houston blasted St. Louis, 6-1, the Chicago White Sox overpowered Minnesota, 10-6, Colorado bested Milwaukee, 6-4, the Los Angeles Angels blitzed Oakland, 3-1, San Diego handled the New York Mets, 2-1, and the Los Angeles Dodgers stonewalled the Chicago Cubs, 3-0.
